Who I Am

I am Alyosha's Argus Kolchak XVI, one of twelve pups born on 6 July 2011 near Canberra, Australia. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be Kolchak XVI, King of the Wolfhounds. I was born small, with an in-utero tail injury resulting in the loss of half my tail. At first I struggled a bit with getting enough nourishment, but my human mom, Natasha, kept a watchful eye on me (even in the wee hours) until I was strong enough to keep my spot at the milk bar. Then, at 11 days old, I surprised my mom when I was the first of all my siblings to open my eyes. Following up on that first, I was first to drink from a plate and first to eat solids like a big boy. Mum said “small of body and large of brain is Argus.” However, the former didn’t hold true as I soon got a monster appetite and out-grew some of my siblings. My human mom said I have the heart of a lion... she must have meant Wolfhound, but just didn’t know it yet.

Let me introduce my dog parents (since Borzoi folks ask).

Dad is Ch Mistraka Sergeant Pepper (Boris).
He's a handsome guy.
Mom is Ch Mistraka Turandot (Sonya).
Mom is beautiful.
Some folks say I'm a mini-Boris. I sure hope so. What do you think?

I appropriately arrived in Hawai'i on Veteran's Day 2011 to meet my new family. I live with Mom, Madeline (14), Matthew (11 1/2), and Isabella (5 year old yellow Lab). Dad is human Wolfhound, currently serving in Afghanistan.

  2. Aloha! We should arrange a meet-up with Kolchak and my borzoi! I have two, and we live on the north shore of Oahu. (By the way, our girl Hana looks a lot like Kolchak!)
